WINSTON-SALEM - Charles H. McClennahan, Sr., age 51, and of 5120 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC passed on December 8, 2010 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born September 23, 1959 in Scotland County to Samuel Hargin McClennahan and Annie Bell McClennahan. He was Assistant Professor of Winston-Salem State Fine Arts. He was a member of Winston Salem First. His civic activities included the Black Film Festival where he was the creator of Baby Larive. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Hargin McClennahan. He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Charles H. McClennahan, Jr.; daughter, Christy S. McClennahan; sisters, Nancy Williams, Carolyn Banks, Bethshebia McNair, all of Laurinburg, NC, Victoria Okonkwo of Raleigh, NC; and brothers, Samuel McClennnahan of Laurnburg, Robert Lee McClennahan of Springlake, NC. Funeral Services will be conducted by Jackson Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Franklin Chapel AME Zion Church and burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, Laurnburg, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 6 until 7 p.m. at Jackson Chapel in Laurnburg, NC. This is a courtesy of Gilmore Funeral Home.
