Funeral services Celebrating the Life of Jessie Douglas, 93, affectionally known as "Mama D" who passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Hospice Facility Volusia / Flagler in Port Orange, FL will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with the Eulogy being brought by Pastor Corwin D. Lasenby, Sr. Services of committal and Burial will follow at Sunset Park Cemetery on Big Tree Road, Port Orange. Public viewing will be on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home.

"Mama D" was born September 20, 1917 to the late Lee and Gertrude Smith in Portsmouth, Virginia.

In later years she worked for many years for the Coleman family as their housekeeper. She became a devoted member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir, served as president of the usher board #2 and was a member of the Ruth Circle of the Women Missionary Society.

She leaves to cherish her memory her adopted family, Jimie Rhinehart, Daytona Beach, FL and her son, William Crawford Rhinehart, Washington, DC, and the entire church family of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Crider Douglas, parents, Lee and Gertrude Smith and her sister, Beatrice Vernon.
