Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Moline American Legion or VFW.
Richard was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Harry G. and Edna Ash Titus. He was married to Dolores Anderson in 1954, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death June 2, 2004.
Mr. Titus worked as a custodian for many schools and churches. He had attended the First United Methodist Church in Rock Island. Mr. Titus served in the U.S. Army, receiving the Purple Heart during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 246, Moline, and VFW 1303, Rock Island.
Surviving are four sons, Mark S. Titus, Curt L. Titus, Ricky G. Titus and Brent (Wanda) Titus, all of Rock Island. Also surviving are his sisters, Ada Stevenson, Rock Island, Georgian Weikert, Plant City, Fla., Ruby Delbeck, West Liberty, Iowa; a brother, Carl (Irma) Titus, Widefield, Colo.; grandchildren, Amber Klundt, Chrisma Ripple, Harry Titus, Richard Titus, Ricky Titus Jr., Justin Titus, Tosha Titus; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, brother and two sisters.
