Jewell was the daughter of George Lockert Reid and Lucy Osborne Reid Lockhart. Jewell married Rosco Treece and had one son: Chester Treece #82278648. Married Clinton Jones and no children. When Jewell's sister Bessie died, she took in Mitchell Smith and raised him as their own. They changed his last name to Jones. Mitchell twin sister died very young.
