Services for Muncie pediatrician Ramon A. Henderson, 80, 4505 W. Kings Row, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in College Avenue United Methodist Church, with Rev. Herb Buwalda and Rev. Curt Austin officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 2-5 p.m. today at Meeks Mortuary.

He died Friday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Dr. Henderson, who was born in Summersville, Ky., moved to Ridgeville as a child and graduated from Ridgeville High School. He attended college and medical school at Indiana University, Bloomington, served his internship at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and his residency at Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.

He began practicing medicine in Muncie in 1940, leaving during World War II to serve as a captain in the Army Medical Corps. He returned to his Muncie medical practice after the war and was one of the founders of the Children's Clinic. He retired in 1987.

He was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Evan Bayh and also was a Kentucky Colonel.

Dr. Henderson was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church, Muncie Exchange Club, Phi Chi medical fraternity, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Delaware Country Club. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon while at Indiana University.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Martin Henderson; three sons, R. Martin Henderson (wife-Edwina), Woodstock, N.Y., John G. Henderson (wife-Marilyn), Mission Hills, Kan., and J. Michael Henderson, Tarzana, Calif.; his daughter, Kathleen Hinga (husband-Jim), Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Samuel Henderson, Brooklyn, N.Y., Nicholas Henderson, Woodstock, N.Y., Wendy Henderson, Mission Hills, and Sean Hinga, Emily Hinga, and Peter Hinga, all of Littleton; a sister, Ayleen Nicholas, Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, Arvin T. Henderson, Portola Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
