Dennis Allen Duke, age 83, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home. He was born on June 29, 1930, in Iconium, Missouri, the son of Leo Edgar and Laura Isabelle (Kennedy) Duke.

He grew up near Iconium and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949. He enlisted into the United States Navy and served overseas in Korea and traveled around the world twice. He was honorably discharged on September 5, 1953, returned home and on that day married his sweetheart, Roaslee Pamer at the Warsaw Methodist Church.

They lived in Kansas City for just a few months and returned to Iconium. Later they moved to Sedalia for five years, returning to their home near Warsaw where they lived until his passing.

Dennis had worked for the MFA Feed Store in Warsaw for several years and then began working for the Benton County Road District as Foreman until his disability in 1976.

Dennis attended Shiloh Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons, hunting and looking for mushrooms. He enjoyed them coming for breakfast and then going out to hunt whatever was in season.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Angie Forth and Isabelle Martin, an infant brother, Frank, and a son, Delmer Dennis Duke.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Roaslee, of the home, a daughter, Laura May Huckaby, and her husband, James, of Warsaw and two grandsons, Steven Delmer Huckaby of Warrensburg, and Jeremy Huckaby of Warsaw, four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, two brothers, Riley Duke of Olathe, Kansas and Vernon Duke of Independence, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Services and Interment will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Bethel Campground Cemetery with Rev. Mike Banks, officiating. Friends may call from noon to 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
