Alice Dorothy Johnston was born June 5, 1909, in Etna Township of Hardin County, the daughter of William J. and Alice W. (Bear) Johnston. She attended the Ackley Community Schools and Hamilton Business College, Mason City. On Jan. 4, 1937, she was united in marriage to Gerald Lloyd Bremmer at Salt Lake City, Utah. She had been employed at J. C. Penney in Iowa Falls and worked at the VA Hospital, Chicago, Ill., during World War II. She and her husband owned the Bremmer Drug Store in Traer and Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1973. She had also lived in Clear Lake prior to moving to the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ackley.
Dorothy Bremmer is survived by her nieces, Patricia Lupkes and husband Gaylord of Ackley, and Alyce Osborn of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Johnston of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Johnston; her husband, Gerald L. Bremmer in 1976; two sisters, Marie Petrie and Gladys Burns; and two brothers, William Johnston and Kenneth Johnston.
