UNION and HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Randall N. Clark, 82, passed away Dec. 7, 2010, with his family at his side, from complications of congestive heart failure at MaineGeneral Hospital, Augusta. Randall was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Union, son of Bryan M. and Charlotte Simpson Clark. Randall attended local schools and was self-taught in many areas, such as engineering. Randall continued to learn new things all though his life. Randall served in the U.S. 8th Army during the post-war occupation of Japan, 1946-1947. He was stationed at Sugamo Prison, which was six miles northwest of Tokyo, and transported the infamous war criminal, General Tojo, prime minister of Japan from 1941 to 1944, to International Military Tribunal for the far east. Mrs. Iva Toguri d'Aquino, a Japanese American, was also held at this prison. She was known as "Orphan Ann" and "Tokyo Rose." While at the prison, Randall also helped build a football field for our soldiers. He returned in 1960 to Union to take over the family business, B.M. Clark Co., Inc., which was started by his father in 1924. Randall increased and expanded the business with new products and new territories. Randall sold a large number of bulk feed trailers to Libya before the relationship between Libya and the U.S. became strained.

Randall was predeceased by his parents; previous wives, Priscilla Alden Clark and Jeanette Clark; brothers, Ivan Clark of California and Jerry Clark of Watertown, Mass.; stepdaughter, Kristen Arlene Caponigro of Meriden, Conn.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irving and Ethelyn Willey of Union.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Willey Clark; children, Deborah Kemp and her husband, Don, of Union, Steven Clark and his wife, Susi, of Union, and Michael Clark and his wife, Toni, of Appleton; stepson, Robert Rebstock Jr. of Meriden, Conn.; grandchildren, Esther Lane and her husband, Keith, of Warren, Benjamin, Brady and Elisa Mae Clark of Appleton, Jaime Gleason of Portland, Allesandra and Zachary Caponigro of Plainville, Conn., and Nicholas Rodriquez of Plainville, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Acadia Lane of Warren; in-laws, Violet Clark of Watertown, Conn., Everett Willey of Windham, Wendall Willey of Long Beach, Calif., Eleanor Buxton of St. George and Marcia Soule of Union; and stepson-in-law, Paul Caponigro of Plainville, Conn.
Burial will be at Clark Cemetery, Route 105, Appleton. (Bangor Daily News 12/9/2010)
