Edward "Butch" Ginter, 83, of Moosic, peacefully returned home on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009. Born and raised in Dupont, Edward was a son of the late Stanley and Mary Bogdan Ginter. He graduated from Sacred Heart of Jesus Elementary School, Dupont, and also from Avoca High School. As most young men at the time, Edward enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country during World War II in the Pacific Conflict and China. Upon his return from military service, he worked in many places. He was a coal miner along with his father, Stanley, did cemetery maintenance at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and was owner and operator of an Atlantic Gas Station in Moosic. His knowledge and talents led him to Chamberlin Corporation, where he was foreman of the Munitions Assembly Line until his retirement. Butch Ginter was an avid bowler. He won many trophies and traveled to many cities, accompanied by his much-loved wife, to bowling tournaments sponsored by his league. Butch's life can be summed up in these words: He was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, he was a father to many nieces and nephews, and he was a man of faith, sincerity, and loyalty. Never forgetting his comrades, Edward always prayed for all the veterans and contributed to military organizations. For 56 years, Edward Ginter was an active member of St. Mary's Czestochowa Church in Moosic. He recently joined Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Dupont. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Ginter, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; sisters, Genevieve Ginter, Dupont, Rose Ginter, Dupont, Sophie Borysewicz, Dupont, and Lottie Shimkowski, San Jose, Calif. He is survived by his dearly loved wife, Genevieve "Jean" Ginter, who will genuinely miss him. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Paddock of Dupont, as well as many nieces and nephews, who sincerely and truly loved him and will miss his presence in the world. -- The Times Leader, December 16, 2009
