Kathleen (Kathy) Hagler Barron, 70, formerly of Abilene, died December 6, 2010 at home in Midland, TX. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene, TX. Interment will be Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of North's Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Huber, Al Bothun; and nephews: Dennis Smiley, Keith Curtis, David Curtis, John-Paul Huber and Tim Willis.

Kathy was born on August 9, 1940 to W.D. (Jake) and Bertha Hagler and grew up on a cotton farm outside of Anson. After graduation from North Texas State University, she taught school for 26 years. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she retired in 1990 from Breckenridge ISD. She moved to Abilene in 1990 and worked part time at Region 14 Education Service Center for 16 years where she retired again in 2006.

She was preceded in death by both parents.

She is survived by two sons: Kyle Barron of Coppell, TX, Brent Cody Barron II and wife Tami; three granddaughters: Katharine, Rebecca, and Carolyn Jo, all of Greenwood, southeast of Midland; two sisters: Beth Huber and husband Roger of Abilene, and Joan Curtis and Al Bothun of Austin; a dear friend, Linda Williams of Abilene; two nieces: Becky Smiley and husband Dennis, JoBeth Willis and husband Tim; three nephews, Keith and Regina Curtis, David and Belinda Curtis; and John-Paul and Dana Huber; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.
