Patrick Fisher, Sr., Dies at Larksville

Patrick Fisher, Sr., died Saturday 3-2-1946 in the afternoon at his home, 237 Howard Street, Larksville.

He was the son of the late John Fisher and Mary O'Connell Fisher. He was born on January 19, 1879-1880, Glasgow, Scotland.

At the age of 5, Patrick, and his brothers; John- Age 6, Edward - Age 2 as well as their mother Mary immigrated by Sea on the Vessel named Furnessia, from the Port of Glasgow, Scotland and Moville, Ireland and arrived at the Port of New York, N.Y. on 7-15-1884, his father arrived in the United States in 1882 for employment in the Coal Mines in Luzerne County, PA.

he resided in Larksville for 55 years, and was well know in the community.

For 50 years he worked for the Hudson Coal Company. He was a member of St. Vincent's Church and its Holy Name Society.

Patrick was preceded in death by his son Joseph, whom was killed in action in Italy, February 9, 1944,


Surviving are his wife, Mary; sons, Richard, Patrick, Edward, Vincent; daughters, Mrs. Anthony Riscavage and Mrs. John Davison; brother, Neil; sisters, Mrs. Edward Virgan and Mrs. David Martin of Detroit, and Mrs. Archie Davis of Pittston,. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the home on Wednesday morning at 9:00 with a requiem mass at 9:30 in St. Vincent's Church, Plymouth.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery, which is St. Vincent DePaul, Larksville.

BURIAL:

The Funeral of Patrick Fisher, Sr., was held yesterday morning on 3-6-1946 from the home at 237 Howard Street, Larksville, PA.

A high mass of requiem was celebrated in St. Vincent DePaul Church, Church Street, Plymouth, Luzerne County, PA., by the pastor, Rev. Patrick A. Hopkins.

Mis Esther Barry was soloist during the Mass.

Casket bearers were Joseph, James, John, Ambrose, and William Fisher and William Miles, all grandsons of the deceased.

Interment was in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, Mountain Road, Larksville, with benediction by Rev. John Regan.
