SAVANNAH - Richard "Dick" L. Phillips, Sr., 77, of Savannah, GA passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Richard was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service and was employed for 19 years by Gulfstream Aerospace as a Quality Control Inspector.
He was a volunteer at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum, Civil War re-enacting, a Mason in Solomon's Lodge, and a deacon at Quacco Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gabrielle; two sisters, Beverly and Georgene.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Altman Phillips; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. Phillips, Jr. (Carol) of Richmond Hill, William W. Phillips, and Douglas J. Phillips (Sharon) of Savannah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Vanbrackle (Michael) of Guyton, and Julie P. Collins (Christopher) of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Kathy Barnard of Washington, PA and Barbara Fanter of Youngstown, OH; eight grandchildren, Michael Jr., Adam, Amber, Heather, Kenny, Kile, Nikki, and Paige; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday October 5, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2007 in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Parker officiating and interment to follow at Hillcrest West Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are asked to be made to The Gideons International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214.
