WILLIAM G LEDEN

William Grosvenor Leden, a senior in the Greenport High School and a member of the Greenport Presbyterian Sunday School, died very suddenly at the Eastern Long Island Hospital early Saturday morning, October 6th. Bill who was 18 years of age, was born in Greenport, May 7th, 1933, a son of Mervin E and Hazel Baumann Leden.

Funeral services were held in the Greenport Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 8th, with Rev Donald Stacey, pastor of the Greenport Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Leden plot in Sterling cemetery, Greenport.

Surviving are his parents Mr and Mrs Mervin E Leden of Greenport, one sister Mrs Peter E Lynch, Jr of Sea Cliff LI, one brother Corp Robert F Leden who is in the US Air Force stationed at Washington DC, one nephew, Peter Gregory Lynch; his grandparents Mr and Mrs Louis Baumann of Southold and Mr and Mrs George A Leden of Greenport, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

At the funeral service on Monday, the community paid a high tribute of respect to the memory of one of its most popular young men. The Church was crowded and among those who came to sympathize with the bereaved family were Town and Village officials, members of the school faculty and the members of the Senior Class of the Greenport High School.
