Robert was the son of John Humber III and Elizabeth Christian. He served in the 3rd Cavalry of Virginia during the War of 1812, commanded by Capt. John W. Compton. After the war he settled in Monticello, Ga., and married Elizabeth Flewellyn 4 May 1793, and who died shortly after. Later, Robert married Mary Ellice Waller Davis on 12 Feb 1823. They then moved near Indian Springs and had the following children:

1. Martha Christian Humber Bickerstaff b 1824
2. Charles Christian Humber b 1827
3. Mary Christian Humber Keith b 1829
4. William Christian Humber b 1832
5. Robert Christian Humber b 1835

After Mary died, Robert married a third wife, Elinor Anderson on Jan. 21, 1840, who was the sister of General Charles and Colonel William Anderson of Fort Valley, Ga. Robert and Elinor's children were:

1. John Humber b 1841
2. Anna E. Humber Mitchell b 1842

Robert and Mary are buried in an above ground grave that has walls that are 4-5 feet high and are made of flat stones and field stones. Buried with him are his wife, Mary, Clement Moore, and his wife, Elizabeth.
