Niel George Rader was born the son of Will and Elevha (McDonald) Rader on Wednesday, June 17, 1925 in Moro, Oregon.

Niel grew up in Biggs, Oregon and attended grade school there. He and his family came to Sherwood when he was twelve years old and lived on Parrett Mountain. Niel graduated from Newberg High School in 1943. He then joined the U. S. Navy where he served a term during WWII and was honorably discharged. Niel returned to Newberg and attended Pacific College, now George Fox University, for a year and then worked at the Ford garage for a time. In 1952 he married Glenice Miller and they made their home in Newberg. After leaving the Ford garage, Niel operated his own repair shop on N. Main and later went to work for Newberg Auto Freight until he retired in 1984. Niel enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a volunteer for the Newberg Fire Department, a member of the VFW, and a member of Newberg Christian Church.

On Saturday, November 13, 2010, Niel George Rader died at a local care center when he was eighty-five years, four months and twenty-seven days of age.

Surviving and left to honor his life are: his wife Glenice of Newberg; three sons, Mike Rader of Newberg, Alan Rader of Roseburg, and Roger Rader of Newberg; three daughters, Linda Shearer of Turner, Carol Weaver of Salem, and Penny Rader of Camas, Washington; his brother Dean Rader of Moro, Oregon; his sister Clara Parker of Vancouver, Washington, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked.

His funeral service will be Friday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m. in Newberg Christian Church with Pastor Lee Shafer and Pastor David Case officiating. A committal service will follow at Newberg Friends Cemetery. Chapel viewing and visitation hours are Thursday, November 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule funeral home.
