Dennis E. Leiby, 72, Sinking Spring, died peacefully Dec. 6, 2010, at 1:35 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
Born in Sinking Spring, he was a son of the late Earl R. and Emily C. (Hawthorne) Leiby.
He retired from Sunoco Pipeline LP in 2003, after 30 years of service, which included ARCO and Atlantic Pipeline at Montello.
He was an Army veteran of the 24th Infantry Division, serving in Germany. He was a 1956 graduate of Wilson High School; a member of VFW Post 6150, Sinking Spring; and a founding member of the Real Estate Investors Association of Berks County.
He served as the Sinking Spring representative for C.O.G. He was an advocate and an advisory board member at the West Lawn branch of Sun Federal Credit Union. He loved motorcycle riding, traveling and nature – especially trips to Thermopolis, Wyo., and Steven's Run Lodge hunting camp, Clinton County.
He was very active in local government, serving currently on Sinking Spring Borough Council. He served as president of the union at Sunoco Pipeline for six years and held various positions as a union officer for 13 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Adonna L., wife of Steven C. Yocum, Sinking Spring; two sons, Dr. Daryl R. Wolf, Thomasville, Ga., and Dr. Dean A. Wolf, Exeter Township; two brothers, Donald H. Leiby, Sinking Spring, and Jack D. Leiby, Hershey; and a sister, Phyllis E. Heffner, Sinking Spring.
There are also five grandchildren: Sedona Yocum, Parker Yocum, Jon Wolf, Brittney Wolf and Maxx Wolf, and former wife, Coreen Quillen.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dolores Fitterling, and a brother, William Leiby.
Funeral services at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Brother Bob Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
