My grandfather John Calvin Hanners ,John Calvin Hamnners called Johnney, his heritage was more in Ky than Mo. where he was said to be born(Mo.), moving around as lots of people did way back when..His life was hard a beginnning as his Father died shortly after his birth. John 1st years was lived (we think)in Mo. as over the years many People from Hart Co., Ky and other places in Ky had migrated going back and forth from Ky.and Mo. other states. As land ownership opened, land grants, etc., different types of heired, wedge labor, jobs, and as work jobs opened up in new State, States) but soon many people migrated back to family, lands, now from Mo. back hame to Ky areas. so John was raised in Hart Co., Ky. His Mother found work in Hart Ky, serving a Nurse to Rosa, John's young daughter, and John, housekeeing, cooking working in her store, working helping with farm chores, etc. Things changed when John and Rachel found love, They married had Willie, now had a new son together,A Baby brought new sunshine into living, life, so happy, Rachel children loved "baby "" Willie so much, Mother love Willie as a Uncle. John Haggard she called Grandfather. John and Rachel was happy, they were very happy as was her older children, with some some children married with families .( John nCalvin Hanners married 1910. John.C. Hanners cALLED OFTEN JOHNNEY,was a Christan man, who once moved just to be close to the Church he wanted to attend.J.C. "Johnney" FatherED of two DAUGHTERS, ONE STILL LIVING. My father grandfather. They never had Christmas with gifts,, but enjoyed a dinner cooked by Mom Elizabeth, Allene said her friend always gave her the only present she received way back then, some times it was a book, which I loved.(She was a only child so she always gave me presents,.. most People didn't get present back then,if they did it was a tiny gift? well I don't think they really got anything ON HOME CHRISTMAS MORNING but some had good story telling abilities, they did?? as the Teacher wanted Class, STUDENT BY STUDENT to stand up after Christms and tell about Christmas.) Friends.. At SCHOOL , everyone THOUGHT ABT GIFTS,would say I got, talked, dreamed about Christmas gifts.. and the presents they got., but my story was short. no presents from home...but we had lots of love my family shared. present came late after I got left home, finished High School, got my job..and times got better. remember times were toldlly different way back then.Mother spoke on...Dad owned a T-type Model Car which he kept for many Years, kept so nice finally sold it as he had another car,, sold for little price..//Larry, Grandadddy even had it when I was a child. His daughter my Mother Allene says Dad was a hard worker, love a pretty home, nice things, ENJOY FINE GOOD HOME COOKED MEALS COOKED BY Mother Elizabeth, who was the FINEST COOK EVERY, MOM SAID., AS WE TALKED, RIDING TO VISIT FAMILY IN Ky, reunions , fun days, when I would stay many nights, daYS,helping her while she was sick and needed told helps wE SURE ENJOY THAT TIME.. FOR A WHILE.... .Then a few times Mom cooked good foods for the road trips(as she did when GrANPA John WAS LIVING AND ON TRIPS, OR NIGHTS AT MOVIES, ETC) MY DAD AND ALL LOVED MOMS COOKING.. BUT ThOSE DAYS OF HER WORK HAS LONG BEEN OVER. WE TOOK HER TO HER fAMILY REUNIONS, AS DAD DID WHEN WE WERE YOUNG. MY DAD NEVER ENJOYED THESE TRIPS MUCH, AS HE ALWAYS FELT HE NEEDED TO BE HOME.Later Years at times Dad was not well and stayed home from reunions but we carried Mom as long as she would go, she always enjoyed trips, after she got where she would go we kept going and would take hours looking for her Kin by phone calls, going to Libraries, digging thousands of days on computer, visiting, talking, riding rodas just looking, cost was heavy but enjoyable, sharing. Talking abt what we saw , learned,, etc, eat in Ky, where we stopped, what changes we found.. etc.reunions. We never have made it to visit Grandad John and Grandma Lizzie graves.sites. well not yet.. but I did go when both were buried, many years ago.. but my Family didn't get to go. as cash was short back then ... and I wished I had took them, maybe someday...
