R.L. WHICKER DIES SUDDENLY FROM STROKE
Robert Loveridge Whicker, aged 59, died at his home Friday at 3:15 from a stroke suffered on Wednesday. He had been in the best of health apparently with no forewarning. The severity of the stroke was such his passing away from it was expected. He was born in Deseret, Utah on Nov. 17, 1883. He married Amanda Iverson Whicker of Littlefield, Arizona, Aug. 17, 1909. They had five children. Mr. and Mrs. Whicker moved to Delta in 1909, where Mr. Whicker first engaged in well drilling. Later he and D.A. Bunker built the Delta Theatre in 1927 and operated it until 1930. For the past several years he had been a painter and was employed at Topaz as a carpenter at the time of his death. He is survived by his widow, Amanda Iverson Whicker; three sons, Cleo and Wallace Whicker of Delta and Ellis Whicker of San Francisco; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald Mortensen and Miss Pearl Whicker of Delta and two grandchildren. Mr. Whicker filled an LDS mission in the West States from 1906 to 1908. Many people gathered at the Second Ward Tuesday afternoon to attend the funeral with Bishop Warren Henderson conducting. The program was as follows: Opening song by the Singing Mothers "O My Father". Opening prayer by Bishop Leo Lyman. Trio, Mrs. Thelma Black, Mrs. Deonna Black and Mrs. Norma Hannifin "Cast Thy Bread Upon the Water". Address by Bishop A.E. Stephenson and John E. Steele. Violin solo by Mrs. Norma Hannifin accompanied by Marian Bennion. Address by Wallace Iverson and remarks by Bishop Henderson.
