Mrs. Eliza Floto Barnett, pioneer resident of Madera, was laid to rest this afternoon in Arbor Vitae cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by the Uev. J. L. Snyder at 2 o'clock from her late home on North A street.

The body was conducted to the grave hy R. M. MrCardle. J. H. Latham, S. G. Owens. W. W. Hunter, A. Wehrmann and J. W. Coffman.

Mrs. Barnett died shortly before 6 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at the home of her son. Sheriff J. H. Barnett after an illness of but a few days. The cause of death was spinal meningitis following an attack of influenza. Eliza Fioto Barnett was born in Mariposa, July 4, 1859, and at the time of her death she was 62 years of age.

She married the late John R. Barnett at Mariposa in 1877, and it was there that all her children were born. She had lived in Madera for the past 32 years, coming here with her husband and family in 1890, where they had lived ever since. Mrs. Barnett leaves two brothers, Frank Floto of Madera and Geo. Leidig of Kerman; two sous, John H. Barnett, sheriff of Madera county, and Kred W. Barnett, well-known rancher of Madera, and one daughter, Mrs. Anne Brown of Madera. There are seven grandchildren.

Her life was a very happy one until 14 years ago, when her daughter Elizabeth died. Her husband died three years ago. and last November, Frank, her youngest boy passed away. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Women of Woodcraft. Mrs. Barnett was dearly loved for her kindly and sweet personality.
