ALDEN "DOC" FAUSNAUGH, 75, of Ligonier, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, 9:41 a.m., at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born March 6, 1935, in Sparta Township, he was the son of to Arthur C "Fuzz". & Mildred J. "Pete" (Moore) Fausnaugh. On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Nancy S. Miller in Kimmell. Alden "Doc" was a lifetime resident of Kimmell and Ligonier Indiana. He was named Alden Moore because his mother, Mildred, disliked nicknames and wanted a name that could not be shortened. But when he was born, Mildred's brother, Ralph Moore, called him "Baby Doc" since he was named after Doctor Alden Rarick (a Moore Cousin). The name "Doc" stuck with hime his entire life.

He was a lifetime Noble County resident and served his country honorably in the Indiana National Guard for 31 years. He had owned and operated Doc's Hardware, Cromwell as well as Tri-County Servicesoft. He also had worked for Kreager Brothers for 12 years and the Armory for five years before retiring. During retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for Bob Wysong's car dealership in Cromwell.

He attended the Cosperville Baptist Church. He was a member of Cromwell Masonic Lodge and also the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club. He was an avid and dedicated fan of Purdue University. As a Mason, he petitioned Cromwell Lodge on Jan. 7, 1965, was elected Feb. 4 1965, initiated an Entered Apprentice Feb.17 ,1965, passed to Fellowcraft on March 2, 1965, and Raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on March 24, 1965. Alden was presented his 25-Year Pin on May 12, 1990.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Fausnaugh of Ligonier; two sons, Thomas W. Fausnaugh of Auburn, and Bart Fausnaugh of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Dustin, Josh, Heather, and Ryan; five step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy (John) Hoss of the Village, Fla. and Gale Givens of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767, with Pastor Jim Barnes and Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.
