Lulu Alice Lux, 90, of Decatur died March 29, 1993 in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur IL. Graveside service were held April 1 in Bement Cemetery.
Miss Lux was born Feb. 12, 1903 near Milmine, the youngest child of Charles W. & Alice Kelley Lux. She grew up in Bement and graduated from high school there. After her mother died in 1931,k Lulu joined her sisters, Monte and Jewel, in Chicago where they were dressmakers for an elite clientele. They moved to Decatur after WWII, continuing their sewing on a reduced scale until retiring.
Jewel died in 1969 at the age of 79; and Monte died in 1973 at age 81. A brother, Troy, died in 1963 after living in Armstrong, Iowa for 55 years. Some of his seven children who live in South Dakota and Minnesota are Lulu's nearest surviving relatives. Her first cousin, Norma Kelley Jackson Tully, a Bement but a long-time Decatur resident, died Feb 5, 1993 at the age of 91.
