BEATTY— At his home in Uniontown on Saturday evening, February 23rd, 1895, Joseph Beatty, editor of the Jeffersonian Democrat, aged 62 years. Mr. Beatty was born in Dunbar township, the son of the late James Beatty and was raised on a farm. In 1860, he was elected Register and Recorder of Fayette county and was re-elected in 1862. He resided in Uniontown for about 25 years. For a number of years he was one of the proprietors of the Uniontown Democrat, and its principal editor. He had belonged to Fort Necessity Lodge I. O. O. F. since November 1870, and was also a member of the Golden Eagles and the Grangers. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. Deceased is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
