Jane O. Johnson, age 87, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was born July 14, 1923 in Batavia, the daughter of Oscar and Matilda Johnson. She was united in marriage to Dwaine C. Johnson on August 20, 1942 in Batavia. Jane was an avid cross-country skier, and also enjoyed fishing with her husband. She also loved baking and doing crafts. Jane was active in the First Baptist Church in Batavia before the church moved out to Mill Creek. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Larry) Gay of Geneva and Martha (Pat) Poe of Batavia; two grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Szabo of South Elgin and Rachael Gay of Geneva; and three great-grandchildren, Max and Alex Szabo, and Savanna Stevenson. In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dwaine; a daughter, Julie Melby; a brother, Arnold Johnson; and a sister Eleanor Johnson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) in Batavia. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at East Batavia Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Faith Baptist Church of Mill Creek, 1S455 South Mill Creek Drive, Geneva, IL 60134.
