Bettie Lou Campion, 73, of Yankton, formerly of Irene, left this earth to join her husband in heaven on February 23rd, 2009 at Avera Care Center in Yankton, SD.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 26th, 2009 at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Irene.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm, Wednesday, February 25th, at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene.

Bettie Lou Johnson was born June 20, 1935 to Palmer and Mable (Miller) Johnson in Tracy, Minn. She was the fourth daughter followed by two brothers. When she was four years old, she contracted polio, which took the use of her left side. She spent several years in the crippled Children's Home and Shriner's Hospital.

She graduated from Tracy High School in 1955. On December 22nd, 1955, she married the love of her life Gerald (Jerry) Campion. To this union four daughters were born. Bettie & Jerry lived in Montrose & Humboldt, before moving to Irene. She babysat then worked at Sunset Manor until she retired because of her polio. After Jerry's death, she lived in Irene until 2002 when she moved to Yankton to Canyon Ridge. She entered Avera Yankton Care Center in January of 2009.

She is survived by daughters Tammy (Dennis) Hauger, Judy (Lamonte) Bak and Patricia Gran, grandchildren Mary (Randy) Ash, Matthew, Mark and Mandy Hauger, Rebecca (Christopher) Carter, Kristina (Kent) Maddox, Amanda Bak, Michael & Anthony Osborn & Derrick Pearson. Also surviving are granddaughters to be; Branigan Kellen, Ashley Schultz, and Anette Zimmerman, great-granddaughters; Haley Ash, Ashlynn Hofer, Ava Cheeseman and Justis Osborn, sister Joyce (Jake) Newton, and brother Marvin Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry in 1992, granddaughter Renee Prince in 1994, daughter Rachelle Prince in 2001, her parents, sisters; Donna, Shirley and brother Wallace.

She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
