Katie R. Marshall 65, passed from this world at Parkview Medical Center on Dec. 8, 2008, with family and friends at her side. She will be reunited with her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Marshall, who passed away July 15, 1997. Katie was born Aug. 6, 1943, the sixth daughter of Rhoda and Valentine Udovich in Standardville, Utah. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Mae Louise, Martha A. Warne; brothers-in-law, Ray Warne, Joe Siegel and Norbert Giltner; sister-in-law, Ginger Marshall; two infant nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Isabel and Benjamin Marshall. Katie's family moved from Utah to Pueblo, Colo., in 1944, where she was a lifelong resident. She attended District 70 Schools and graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1961. Katie worked at Parkview Hospital and various convenience stores. She also had a talent for sewing and a variety of other crafts. Katie excelled in her talent for designing bridal gowns and accessories, recital costumes, baptism gowns and numerous crafts that she enjoyed giving away. Katie and her husband were diagnosed with cancer in 1995. Katie continued making crafts and caring for her husband until his death in 1997. She then moved to Mineral Palace Towers and began volunteering at Parkview. Katie spent 11 years cancer-free, volunteering at the hospital, planning craft shows and donating her time and talents at both the towers and the hospital. Katie is survived by the loves of her life, her only daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Eric Goettel; grandsons, Garrett and Aaron Goettel; sisters, Emma Giltner, Mitzi (Bob) Evans, Helen Siegel, all of Pueblo, and Josie (Wilfred) Kesner of Orcutt, Calif.; brothers, Valentine (Paula) Udovich of Wellington, Utah, and Robert Udovich of Pennsylvania. Also survived by caring and supportive brother-in-law, Donald Marshall; special friends, Dorothy and John Venditti of Pueblo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. At her request, cremation has taken place, so all friends, neighbors and relatives are invited to attend a service to celebrate Katie's life at 10:30 a.m Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at SonRise United Methodist Church, 421 E. Spaulding, Pueblo West, Colo. The memorial service will be conducted by the Revs. Gary and De Etta Goettel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers or food, Katie wished to have memorial contributions made to the Parkview Foundation, 400 W. 16th St., Pueblo, Colo., 81003. Arrangements under the direction of Imperial Funeral Home.
