Peggy Sue McMillin Trout, of Lake Bowen, died Monday, December 6, 2010. She was born August 12, 1929, in New Prospect, the 10th and youngest child of Jesse Clifton McMillin and Sallie Carson. From childhood, her sunny disposition became the hallmark of her life. To know her was a joy. Even during her recent illness her medical attendants often remarked that she had lifted their spirits by her sweetly radiant personality. Her last days were spent in the compassionate care of the Hospice House in Landrum. She went to her eternal home with an unfaltering trust in the mercies of her Savior.

Peggy married Max Burton Trout in 1948 and they shared over 62 blissful years together. He survives her. Also surviving are two daughters, Maxine Self (Charles) of Franklin, IN and Rebecca Vaughan of Suwanee, GA; seven grandchildren: Ryan Pass (Misty) of Gainesville, FL, Benjamin Pass of Atlanta, Catherine Pass of John's Creek, GA, Matthew Vaughan of Kennesaw, GA, Zachary Vaughan (Cassie) of Atlanta, Victoria Vaughan of Atlanta, and Martin Vaughan of Sugar Hill GA; and one great-grandson, Mason Pass. Peggy is also survived by sisters, Edith Strong and Sara Trout of Inman; brothers, Ellis McMillan of New Prospect and Joseph McMillin of Inman.

Peggy enjoyed the role as homemaker all of her married life. Her husband's several career moves gave her the opportunity to serve in a wide variety of community and church activities. Every place she lived became a better place because of her devoted efforts and caring sacrifices in support of her neighbors in those communities.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, December 11, 2010, in the Atrium of First Baptist Church, Inman. To avoid the bitter cold weather expected of a graveside service, a brief committal service by pastor Dr. Paul Moore will be held in the Atrium following visitation. Inurnment at Roselawn will be private for the family.
