Ida was the daughter of Wilhelmina Westphal. Wilhelmina, her parents (Carl and Bertha) and her siblings, and Ida left Hamburg Germany in 1884. After settling in Buffalo, NY, her mother married August Pokrandt a widower with two sons.

Ida and Henry Kohlhagen were the parents of Irma, Henry, Sylvia, Frederick and Wilbur.

(Westphal) Kohlhagen, of 136 Leonard St., May 14, 1966, wife of the late Henry; mother of Irma, Henry, Fred, Wilbur, and the late Sylvia Kohlhagen; sister of Charles, Adolph Pokrandt, and the late Anna Bindig, Minnie Radel, Albert, August, Joseph, Frank and Julius Pokrandt. Also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Sieck & Mast Funeral Home, Inc., 1009 Kensington Avenue., where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 pm Friends invited. Mrs. Kohlhagen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Ladies Aid (Scoville Ave.).
