SGTMAJOR Scheib enlisted in the US Army on March 24, 1950 and was Honorably Discharged Oct 1, 1970. At the time of discharge he was serving as the SMG for Co G 1st BN, Ft Gordon, Georgia.

He attended cooking and radio operative schools.

He also served with A Co 141 SIG BN CCA 1st Armored Division in Karlsruhe, Germany and Co 'A' 34 SIG BN - 7th CORP in Moringen, Germany. He served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and different stateside camps during his 20 years of service.

He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal six times, Bronze Star, Army Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, and two O/S Bars

I had the pleasure of serving with 1stSGT Scheib in Germany as his Operations NCO in '66 - '67 - SGT Jim Nygard
