GRANGER - Delbert Gene Yundt, 81, residing in Granger, IN, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 while visiting family in Los Angeles, CA. He was born March 2, 1929 in South Bend, a son of Bruce H. & Evelyn B. (Replogle) Yundt, and was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area. He was a graduate of Indiana University, and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married his beloved wife Barbara on September 20, 1980. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2003. He was a loving husband, father to five, grandfather to eight, and friend to many. Gene spent his entire career with Curtis Products in South Bend as a partner. After 37 years, he retired in 1996. He was a member and Past President of Morris Park Country Club, a member of St. Joseph Lodge #45, F. & AM., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Murat Temple, Indianapolis, and Orak Shrine, Michigan City. He had a deep love of dogs and cared for many throughout his life. He was a lifelong supporter of Notre Dame Football, Indiana University Basketball, and New York Yankees Baseball. Gene is survived by five stepchildren, Colleen Floyd of Austin, TX, Kathleen Feaster of Manhattan Beach, CA, Dan Casey of Los Angeles, Terrance Casey of Lafayette, IN, and Michael Casey of Los Angeles. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, and seven grand-dogs. Memorial services celebrating the life of Gene Yundt will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Private burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, with his beloved Barbara. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Mr. Yundt may be offered to the Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or to the Christ Child Christmas Fund, or The Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
