Services for Robert Dennis Brown, 70, a Fleetwood Street resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Epworth United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Barry Dickens is to officiate. Burial will be at Carlsbad Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by West Funeral Home Inc.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday (Oct. 12, 1993) at Guadalupe Medical Center.
Pallbearers are to be Phil Brown, Deon Conners, Gary Bannister, Todd Bannister, Jody Bannister and Charles Wright.
Mr. Brown was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Logan, Ill. He attended school, including college, in Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, in the European Theater from 1943-1946. In 1953, he began working for Amax Chemical Corp., retiring in 1984 as general manager and vice president.
On Aug. 13, 1956, he and Beulah Bandy married in Carlsbad.
Mr. Brown served two years as president of the New Mexico Mining Association, past president of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Conquistador Council of the Boy Scouts of American and was recipient of The Silver Beaver Award.
He also served as past president of the South Eddy County United Way, board member of the Timberon Property Owners Association, board member of the State Transportation Authority Board and chairman of the board for the United New Mexico Bank of Carlsbad.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Brown of Carlsbad; three sons, Dennis Brown and Chuck Brown, both of Carlsbad, and Steve Brown of Phoenix; two daughters, Pam Ellis of Springfield, Mo., and Mary Huber of Carlsbad; one brother, Bill Brown of Carlsbad; one sister, Dora Mae Edmondson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchildren.
