Mrs. Jeanette Brown Sanford died Saturday morning at eight-thirty at the home of her son, Ralph B. Sanford, in Ogden at the advanced age of seventy-five. Mrs. Sanford had been visiting there during the winter months and in Logan with her daughter, Miss Susie Sanford, and had intended to return to her home in Delta last week. She had been in poor health for some time and was unable to make the trip. Mrs. Sanford was born July 20, 1865 at Payson, a daughter of Richard and Helen Blamaire Brown, who had come to Utah from Scotland as converts of the LDS Church. Her childhood was spent at Koosharem. She was married to Hyrum Eugene Sanford in Springville on March 7, 1888. Mr. and Mrs. Sanford later moved to Hanksville and were pioneers in the lower part of Wayne County and were among the early settlers of Delta, moving here in 1911. They made their home at Sutherland and farmed there. Mr. Sanford died several years ago. Mrs. Sanford was the mother of eight children, six of whom survive her, namely, four sons, Ralph B. Sanford of Ogden; Dewey and Elbert Sanford of Delta and Brown Sanford of Los Angeles and two daughters, Miss Susie Sanford of Logan and Mrs. Cora Turner of Delta. There are 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, William Brown of Koosharem and Richard Brown of Annabella. Mrs. Sanford was a first counselor of the Relief Society of Sutherland Ward and had been active in church work during her many years here. She was held in deep esteem by all who knew her and her integrity of character and charm of personality were appreciated by her many friends.

Funeral services were held in the Sutherland Ward at twelve noon on Monday, with Bishop Cutler Henrie in charge. The opening song was given by the Sutherland Relief Society, "Sister, Thou Wert Always Mild and Lovely". Prayer by E.L. Abbott, song by Q. Wilchens, speaker, Bishop George R. Jackson, speaker, George Boyack, Violin solo by Mrs. Laura Montori, speaker F.G. Eyre of Ogden, speaker Bishop Lowell Hall, Logan, song by G.M. Wright and prayer by George D. Shipley. Interment was in the cemetery at Springville where Bishop Worley of Logan dedicated the grave. All the members of Mrs. Sanford's family were here for the services and a large number of friends were gathered to pay their last respects. There was a large floral tribute and many expressions of sympathy, including the message delivered by George Whornham in behalf of the Extension workers from the U.S.A.C. at Logan, where Mrs. Sanford had spent part of last winter with her daughter, Miss Susie Sanford.
