He married Sarah Harmon Dudley on October 13, 1774 in Old Saybrook Township, *New London County, Connecticut. Joseph was in the Connecticut Militia in the American Revolutionary War. Joseph died on May 29, 1831 at age 77 years, 8 months, and 12 days old in Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He was buried in Shailerville Tylerville Cemetery in Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Joseph and Sarah had twelve children: Thankful, Warren, Deborah, Sally, Asa, Fannie, Dolly, Dudley, George, Harriet, Sophia, and Joseph Jr.
