Lewis Clark was born to Dudley Clark and Marie A. (Foote) Clark on June 7, 1825 in Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He married Grace Elizabeth Fowler on January 1, 1851 in Northford, New Haven, Connecticut. They lived in Tylerville, Middlesex County, Connecticut where he worked for a time as a farmer. Later Lewis became a Captain of a sailing vessel in the coast trade. Lewis died on November 7, 1889 at age 64 years and 5 months old in Tylerville, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He was buried in Shailerville Tylerville Cemetery in Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Lewis and Grace had ten children: Grace Caroline, Anna O., Marie Antoinette, Henry Hobart, Frederick Elliott, Nellie, Victoria, Lola Fowler, Nina, and Arthur M.
