Mr. an Mrs. J.L. Wilkes, of Moultrie, have been informed that their son, Technical Sergeant Willie Doyle Wilkes 24, died in France on September 3.

Sgt. Wilkes wife, who lives in Duncan Okla., notified the family Friday that, she had received a telegram from the War Department telling of the death, but added no details were made public.

In service for about two and a half years, Sgt. Wilkes had been in England until a month ago when he was transferred to France.

A native of Moultrie, he was employed as an automobile mechanic in Atlanta at the time he was inducted into the Army. His parents live on West Central Avenue.

He is survived by, in addition to his wife and parents, two brothers, Lee Wilkes of Moultrie, Carpenters Mate First Class, Floyd Wilkes, who is serving in the Seabees in the South Pacific; and three sisters, Mrs. Emmett Ruis of Moultrie, Mrs. Don Diamond of Atlanta, and Mrs. Gilbert Niedenthal of Boise Idaho.
