COURIER TRIBUNE, Seneca, Kansas, Thursday, October 30, 1958. Page 1.

The paper records with a feeling of loss, though because of his age and frail health, a loss that was to be expected, the death of Tom Clowe of Seneca, 87 years of age, going on 88th; last Friday, October 24, 1958.

Tom Clowe, for some 50 years a resident of Seneca, whom we will remember for his stronger years; an alert, kindly man, but straightforward in his attitude, so you had no doubt he stood; and the father of our friends, the children who are now taking their part in Seneca and other communities. Mr. Clowes passing will no doubt take many persons who have lived in Seneca longer than the editor, back in memory to many happy associations as the family was growing up in Seneca.

Tom Clowe whose full name was Thomas Elijah Clowe, was born May 24, 1871 at Holton. It was at Holton that he married on February 6, 1894 to Sarah Elizabeth Brownfield, now deceased. They celebrated their golden wedding in Seneca on February 6, 1944.

They leave seven sons and three daughters. Ralph is now in Marysville; Orville at San Bernardino, Calif.; Bernie at Junction City; Erwin, who was formerly foreman of this paper, is at Temple City, Calif.; Bessie is Bessie Durham of Kansas City, Mo.; Harold is the only Senecan, member of the postal department; Virgil is at Ft. Worth; Ines is Ines Layman of Lincoln; Kenneth is at Long Beach, Calif.; and Grace. the youngest, is Grace Davison of Columbus, Ohio.

There are 18 grandchildren and the same number of great grandchildren.

The service for Mr. Clowe was held Monday afternoon at the Lauer Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. F. Vernon Dillon, pastor of the Methodist church. "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were selections sung by D. Edward Taylor, Louis Slocum, Mrs. William Drumm and Mrs. John Kongs, with Mrs. C. H. Baldwin as accompanist.

Burial was at Seneca cemetery. Claude Rucker, James Gafford, Charles Jermane, Frank Rusche, Neil Smalley and Albert McKee were pallbearers.
