Mrs Tew fell about two weeks ago and broker her hip and for that reason was carried to the hospital. She was improving-her condition was most encouraging-and it was planned to take her to her home. 718 Heidt street, Shandon, within the next few days. Yesterday morning, she seemed to be getting along nicely when she had a sudden heart attack and passed away quietly within about ten minutes.

Mrs Tew was born in 1858 on a plantation on the outskirts of Columbia and so had lived in this city practically all of her life. She was the daughter of Richard Parker and his wife, Charlotte Moseley Parker. She is survived by her husband; by one son, Charles M Tew. Jr; by one brother, E W Parker, and two sisters, Miss Minnie Parker of Winthrop college and Mrs J B Wright of Columbia and several nieces and nephews.

A gentlewoman of the old school, Mrs Tew was endowed with many lovely traits of character and strong Christian faith. She was a devoted member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and her rector, the Rev L Taylor, will be in charge of the services which will be held at 6 o'clock this afternoon at her church, with interment in Elmwood. Pallbearers will be: L F Pearce, Eugene Read, Walter Thomas, Dr J M Quattlebaum, J B Jackson, and W B Edgar.

The passing of Mrs Tew caused widespread sorrow and there are many to join with the family in mourning her death.
