Frances was the daughter of John Wolkenstorfer and Mary Reitschlager. She was thirteen when her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Louisville, Kentucky. She married Herman Von Bokern on 17 Apr 1901 and they had five children: Marie, Frances, Helen, Aline and Hermine (Tina). Before her marriage she was employed as a weaver in a woolen mill. Frances died at the age of 94.
