A very famous type-founder, he has an entry on Page 465 of "Who's Who in America: 1899 - 1900", Edited by John W. Leonard.

Although he was the author of several books of poetry, he is most remembered for his "The American Printer", 1866.

He married Eliza Ross on September 27, 1834.
