Died as result of a heart attack.
Took over his father's barber shop business — the first shop in Licking County, opened in 1856 by John G. Knauber, who came to Newark on July 12, 1856 from Phiuladelphia. For years the shop operated out of the basement of the First National Bank.
Frank was the son of John G. and Louise (Myer) Knauber. He served 12 years as a member of the City Council, was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, and also a member of the Newark Lodge F&AM and a 50-year member of Newark Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
His wife, the former Mary German, died before him as well as a son, Raymond.
One sister, Dora E. Markham, survived him.
