Candace 'Kate' Harper Simpson, 89, passed away Thursday in her home.

She was born in Howard County to the late Howard and Grace (Ball) Harper. She married Ralph Simpson on Nov. 21, 1936. She was a homemaker and belonged to the Sycamore Friends Church in Sycamore.

She is survived by her husband Ralph of 71 years; sons, Joe (Becky) and Gene (Loretta) Simpson, all of Swayzee; daughter, Rebecca (Jerold) Rackel, Webster, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Frances Marshall, Greentown, and Sue (Gene) Alexander, Converse; brothers, Bill (Marieta) Harper, Swayzee, Vic (Vera) Harper, Greentown, Dale (Janie) Harper, Greentown, and Tom (Shirley) Harper, Greentown.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Smeltzer, (Find A Grave Memorial# 46193952); Mildred Pence, Betty Charlotte Harper, (Find A Grave Memorial# 46191452); and brothers, George, (Find A Grave Memorial# 46191458); and Harold Harper, (Find A Grave Memorial# 46191461).

Services are at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Sycamore Friends Church, 1148 N. 100 E., Greentown, with Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial is in Greentown.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Needham-Storey-Wampner, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee.
