QUEENS, NEW YORK - Debra A. Cook (nee Bryant), age 76, of Queens, New York, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Franklin General Hospital in New York, after a brief illness.
She was born on October 3, 1934 in Searight, Alabama to J.B. and Lovell (nee Crowell) Bryant.
Debra loved the Lord and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was cooking and caring for others. She was always compassionate and willing to share her love with everyone.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband John Cook of Queens, NY; her 5 adopted children: sons, Anthony, John (Katie), Norman (Maggie) and Artez; and daughter, Sharon Thornton, all of Pennsylvania; sisters, Ann (Timothy) Springer of Lorain, Alice (Richard) Douglas of Tucker, GA; brothers, Clifford (Beverly) Bryant of Lorain, Elder James (Jewel) Bryant of Stockbridge, GA; a stepbrother, Rev. Marcus Daniels of Montgomery, AL; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a god-daughter, Esther Freeney of Norwalk; a devoted friend of 40 years, Carrie Cook of Queens, NY; and other loving relatives and friends.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Lovell Bryant; brothers, Willie J. and James E. Bryant; and a sister, Maude Thomas.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 300 W 13th St. in Lorain, with Rev. Loversier Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
