He was born May 27 1941 in Demopolis, Alabama and had been a resident of Lorain since 1969.
Sam worked as an assembler at York International in Elyria for 32 years and retired in 2001. He was a member of the Elk's and was a Mason.
He enjoyed working and dancing, and was a very kind-hearted brother and uncle to his family. He will be missed greatly.
Sam leaves behind to cherish his memory, two brothers, Henry Armstrong of Detroit MI and John Armstrong of Lorain; six sisters, Clidie B. Edelen of Bessemer AL, Pauline Armstrong, Ella B Armstrong and Darlene Brown, all of Lorain, Doris "Dot" Jefferson and Martha Spencer, both of Detroit MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Susie Lee Armstrong; a sister, Mary Lee Essex; and a brother, Tommy Lee Armstrong.
Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Body of Christ Church, 2120 W 23rd St in Lorain. Rev. Charles Howard of Christian Kingdom will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
