No headstone exists today but the 1861 New England Historical and Genealogical Record, page 20, states that they copied this information on Sept. 6, 1860: "Curtice, John, Lieut., July 12, 1783, in 43 yr." When Sidney Perley transcribed the existing headstones in 1900 (Essex Antiquarian), he did not find John Curtice.
