Florence Naillon Christensen Anderson
1890 - 1983

Early Life: Florence was born January 7, 1890, in Naillon [Naillontown], Tennessee, to Aaron Montgomery Naillon and Mary Sutton Naillon. When she was young, some time between 1900 and 1910, Florence and her family made the long journey across the country from Cocke County, Tennessee, to settle in Utah after joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She received her education in Tennessee and Spanish Fork, Utah, graduating from Spanish Fork High School.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: Prior to marrying, Florence worked for several years as a telephone operator in Provo, Utah. On April 6, 1911, she married Andrew Marinus Christensen in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Provo. Andrew died June 9, 1966. She married James Cleon Anderson in January 1970, in Provo. Florence taught adult education for the Provo School District. She worked for Lewis Ladies Store in Provo. Following retirement, she worked as a telephone operator at the Utah State Hospital. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she lived in the Sunset-Pioneer and 8th Wards. She held leadership positions in all auxiliaries of the Church. She was also a member of the Provo Women's Council and the Provo Youth Council. Florence Naillon Christensen Anderson passed from this life Friday, September 9, 1983, at a Payson hospital of causes incident to age. She was 93.
Survived By: Her husband, James, of Fairview, UT; three sons and four daughters: Andrew Max Christensen (Virginia), of Citrus Heights, CA; William G. Christensen (Georgia), of American Fork, UT; Richard B. Christensen (Betty Jo), of Provo, UT; Fawn Ferguson (Byron), of Provo, UT; Mary Anhder (Theo), of Provo, UT; Norda Simkins (Max), of Orem, UT; Gloria Kuhni (Ralph), of Provo, UT; 31 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Her husband, Andrew; her son, Jack Christensen; her parents and siblings.

Florence Christensen Anderson will be honored at an open house today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Byron (Fawn) Ferguson, 3323 N. 175 E., Provo. Friends and relatives are invited to attend an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. to celebrate Mrs. Anderson's 84th birthday. The family requests no gifts.

Also hosting the event will be Mrs. Anderson's three daughters, Mrs. Max (Norda) Simkins, Mrs. Ralph (Gloria) Kuhni, and Mrs. Mary C. Duckett, all of Provo.

Her sons are William Christensen, American Fork; Richard Christensen, Provo; and Max Christensen, Walnut Creek, Calif.

Mrs. Anderson has served several times as president of the Primary in the Pioneer Ward and also as MIA president on several occasions. She has worked on Primary stake boards and has been a member of the Women's Legislative Council.

On April 6, 1910 *[1911], Mrs. Anderson married Andrew Christensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1966. In 1969, she married Carl Anderson and they reside in Provo.
