Lima - Alva June Acuna Wamser, 86, died at 4:36 p.m. Dec. 4, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born June 22, 1924, in Los Angeles to Oscar William and Jennie Dentler Schneider, who preceded her in death. In 1946, she married Jesus Acuna, who died in January 1959.

Mrs. Wasmer retired from Bank of America when she lived in California. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She loved her roses and would take in any stray animal, especially cats.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Aurora Martin, of Lima; two grandchildren, Lesa (Larry) Griesdorn and Doña Say, both of Lima; six great-grandchildren, Allen Hammitt, Jeremy Bogart, Elena Meeks, Keagan Gaskill, Heath Gaskill and DeWayne Griesdorn, all of Lima; and five friends, Concha Christerna, Linda Chavez, Jewel Schiffman, Melanie Thurmond and Linda Smith.

She was preceded in death by a son, Philip L. Taylor.

Services will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Father Joseph Sekeres will officiate. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum, Lima.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
