Mrs. Laura TODD, wife of the late W. J. TODD, first county judge of Ochiltree County, and the mother of Jep TODD, well known ranchman of Hemphill County, died at her home in Canadian Monday afternoon following a week's illness. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Canadian Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. D. L. McCree officiating.

Mrs. TODD came to the Panhandle with her husband in 1885 where he became superintendent on the Bar C Ranch, owned by a Scotch syndicate, with headquarters in Kansas City. Mr. TODD became first county judge of Ochiltree in 1887 and served two terms. He proved up the townsite of Ochiltree. He later bought the Big Timber Ranch in Hemphill County, which land the TODD estate now owns.

At an early age Mrs. TODD became a member of the Methodist Church and was usually active in it. She had always been a leader in the Woman's Christian Temperance in Canadian and aided in the founding of that organization in Canadian.

Survivors are a son, W. J. TODD of Canadian; a daughter, Mrs. George HENSON, Canadian; grandson, Dale NIX; and granddaughter, Georgene HENSON, both of Canadian.
