He was a longtime Dairy Farmer in the area. He married Marilyn Brooks on June 18, 1955.
An Avid sportsman, Don was well known for being a great pitcher in Fast Pitch Softball and also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Stahl; daughters, Chris Shellenbarger and husband Steve of Clarksville, Tracy Hershberger and husband Roy of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Becky Tauschek and husband Scott of Madison, Nathan Shellenbarger and wife Amanda of Caledonia, Kyle Langmaack and wife Kristi of Clarksville, Ashley Overholt and husband Lanny of Clarksville, Janelle Langmaack of Petoskey, Justin Hershberger of Cedar Springs; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Dorlan Eldred and wife Donna of Freeport; special cousin, Verle Stahl and wife Therese of Lake Odessa and his mother-in-law, Esther Brooks. Preceding Donald in death were his parents, George and Glenna Eldred and his father-in-law, Clifford Brooks.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church, Lake Odessa.
