d. Montevidio, S.A.

Edward died in Montevideo (Uruguay) South America. The book “The Mayflower Ancestry of Elizabeth Ely Goodrich, by Inglis Stuart, Rhinebeck Press, 1932 states that Edward’s grave is on the Isle de Flores in the harbor of Montevideo. It is likely that the marker on his parent’s grave in the Maple Cemetery in Berlin, Connecticut merely memorializes him. Inglis Stuart was a nephew of Edward Ely Dunbar.

Edward was the author of several books, including “The Romance of the Age; or, the Discovery of Gold in California”, published by Appleton and Company, New York, 1867. He was also involved in a business dispute with the abolitionist Lewis Tappan.
