Arthur Vincent LaShomb Jr., 79, died Wednesday, November 24, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Potsdam, he was the son of Arthur and Lucia (Byers) LaShomb. He retired from Crucible Steel after 43 years of service and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of VFW Post 2893 and Crucible Steel Retirement Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Colomb LaShomb, in 2007. Arthur is survived by his sons, Arthur James (Leta) LaShomb of Syracuse and Christian Vincent (Lora) LaShomb of Syracuse; his daughter, Susan (Fran) Talaber of Oswego; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours or services. Private burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Veterans Administration Medical Center, Voluntary Services Office, 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse.
