"Mrs. Joe Abrams Funeral Held Here
The funeral of Mrs. Yvetta Abrams, widow of the late Joe Abrams, was held Sunday afternoon at the Perkins Funeral Home here, Rabbi David Fischman of New Orleans, officiating, Interment followed in Rosehill cemetery.
Mrs. Abrams died Friday after a protracted illness, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cloy Taylor, in Longview, Texas. Originally, from New York, she had lived in Brookhaven for a number of years. Of late years, she had been with her daughter in Texas. Her son-in-law, Cloy Taylor, is in the Navy's Construction Battalion.
Mrs. Abrams' only immediate survivor is her daughter, Mrs. Cloy Taylor, the former Miss Joyce Abrams, of Longview, Texas.
Pall-bearers at the funeral were nephews and newphews-in-law of her late husband, a member of a family prominently identified with Brookhaven and Hazlehurst for several generations.
They were Clifford Abrams, Clayton Abrams, Louis Schlesinger, Harry Samuels, Eli Buchman and Louis Kemp, the last named, of Hazlehurst, active, and Paul Kemp, Carroll Kemp and Buddy Gould, all of Hazlehurst, honorary.
Beautiful floral pieces were placed on the tomb.
During her residence in Brookhaven, Mrs. Abrams won community esteem and made friends who unite with her daughter and relatives in sorrow at her passing.
Mrs. Abrams' daughter, Mrs. Cloy Taylor, was accompanied to Brookhaven from Longview, Tex., by Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Gould of Hazlehurst, the latter, remembered as the former Miss Pauline Kemp of Hazlehurst. Mrs. Gould is a cousin of Mrs. Taylor."
